Flax Seeds: 10 Uses As Natural Remedies

The flax seeds are a food that presents particularly beneficial characteristics to the body. They can be considered a simple ingredient to be used in the kitchen. It is sufficient to chop the flax seeds, which must be eaten raw, to obtain a new seasoning for your dishes, but their uses go far beyond the most straightforward recipes. So let’s find out ten alternative uses for flax seeds.

Flaxseed Hair Pack

Using flax seeds, it is possible to prepare a hair pack to dampen hair before shampooing. It is a nourishing pack that includes the addition of a few drops of olive oil, sweet almonds, or wheat germ to give the hair more excellent shine. Proceed to prepare the pack by pouring two tablespoons of flax seeds into a saucepan together with 250 ml of tap water. Bring to a boil over low heat and let it sit all day or overnight. Then filter the liquid obtained and add a few drops of the chosen oil. Once the compress is ready, it must be used at the moment.

Flaxseed Gel

It is possible to obtain a gel from flax seeds that you can use as a nourishing fixative for your hair in place of commercial products. Just place 30 grams of linseed in a tightly meshed colander – but it is even more practical to use one or more resealable tea infusers – and place it in a saucepan where you have brought 200 ml of water to the boil.

Let it simmer for 5 minutes and rest for at least an hour, or until the gel forms. Remove the strainer or the infuser and add two tablespoons of lemon juice to your gel. Transfer the flaxseed gel to a glass jar or dispenser with a measuring cup. It can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week. Flaxseed gel can be scented by adding a few drops of essential oil.

Flaxseed Sprouts

Use organic flax seeds to obtain healthy sprouts rich in beneficial nutrients for the body. If you do not have a sprouting plant, use a typical deep dish, where you can arrange the flax seeds after rinsing them thoroughly with the help of a colander. Cover the plate with a clean kitchen towel, preferably unwashed, using an industrial detergent.

Rinse the sprouts two or three times a day, remembering, for example, to do this once in the morning and once in the evening, using a sieve and avoiding water stagnation on the plate. The sprouts will be ready in 4 or 5 days and can be stored in the refrigerator in a container without a lid or in the same dish for the same amount of time. They must be eaten raw so that the heat of cooking does not alter the essential nutrients they contain.

Laxative Infusion With Flax Seeds

A cold infusion with a laxative effect can be prepared with flax seeds. Its effectiveness is best expressed if drunk in the morning on an empty stomach. Before pouring a tablespoon of flax seeds into a glass in the evening, remember to fill the Glass, usually with tap water, and cover it with a saucer or cloth. It will then be sufficient to filter the infusion before drinking it. The flax seeds will have released mucilage that will facilitate intestinal transit.

A Poultice Of Flaxseed Flour

The flaxseeds can be ground to obtain flour to be used to prepare poultices. A coffee grinder can be used for this. Flax seeds must not be left to soak before being ground and must be completely dry. Only once the flour has been obtained, which otherwise can be purchased ready-made in a herbalist’s shop, can the poultice be prepared.

It is necessary to bring to a boil in a saucepan 200 ml of water, in which two tablespoons of flaxseed flour must be poured. Therefore, it is essential to mix until a creamy consistency is obtained, let it cool, and wrap the mixture in a handkerchief to keep resting on the chest as long as possible to calm the cough.

Replace The Eggs

Flax seeds can be used in cooking as a food binder to replace eggs in preparing cookies, muffins, and cakes. Follow the procedure for preparing the flaxseed gel for the hair as described in point 2, but do not add any other ingredients. Use three tablespoons of flaxseed gel for each egg to be replaced.

Flaxseed Hair Mask

If the flaxseed pack from step 1 is not enough to deeply nourish your hair, as it appears particularly dry or damaged, enhance it by transforming it into a hair mask, to be made by adding half a well-ripened banana carefully blended or half to the mixture. Glass of plain or soy yogurt. Leave the pack on damp hair for at least 30 minutes before switching to shampoo.

Linseed Thermal Pads

Flax seeds can be used for the homemaking of thermal pads in place of the hot water or ice bottle. It is sufficient to create a small pillowcase with a square or rectangular shape using recovered fabric or fabric, for example, from an old t-shirt. The cushion should be stuffed with linseed and closed with seams. It can be heated in the oven or on the radiator or stored in the freezer to use as an ice pack when needed.

Omega3 Supplement

Flax seeds can be considered an essential plant source for integrating omega-three fatty acids into your diet, especially if you follow a vegetarian or vegan diet. Other plant-based sources of omega3 are flaxseed oil and walnuts, which can be combined every day to obtain a correct intake of omega3.

Natural Remedy For Constipation

A natural remedy against constipation and facilitating intestinal transit is consuming two tablespoons of whole flax seeds once a day. Immediately afterward, a glass of warm water or at room temperature must be drunk so that in the intestine, the flax seeds can form mucilages with an adjuvant effect for intestinal transit and emollient for the intestinal walls.
